Sometimes, the most unforgettable love stories begin with a little rain.
This couple photo shoot in Ravello was full of unexpected turns — the kind that test your spontaneity, but reward you with magic.
From the start, we knew there might be clouds. The forecast showed rain, but we still hoped Ravello would greet us with sun. It didn’t — and I’m so glad it didn’t.
As an engagement photographer, I’ve learned that Ravello in the rain has a whole different soul. The streets fall silent, reflections shimmer on the old stones, and the town becomes this soft, cinematic dream. Of course, walking the slippery streets in heels and elegant outfits wasn’t exactly easy — but this couple embraced every moment.
Luckily, I always keep a timeless black umbrella in my car — not just for the rain, but because it adds such beauty to the photos. I even include rainy-day references in my moodboards ahead of every photo shoot, so my couples know: rain doesn’t ruin the magic — it is the magic.
Then came our second challenge: Villa Cimbrone. We knew professional equipment wasn’t allowed, but hoped for an exception. That day, it wasn’t possible — but we didn’t stop. I switched to my old film camera and captured intimate shots on my iPhone too. The results? Incredibly warm, moody, authentic frames. True to the moment.
For him, this was his very first professional photo shoot. His reaction? Pure emotion, joy, and energy I couldn’t describe in words — but you’ll feel it in every image and in the short video I created for them.
You can already find the cinematic Reels video from this shoot on my Instagram — it’s a little piece of what we lived through that day.
Whether you’re planning your engagement photo shoot, a pre-wedding session, or a dreamy photography tour through Italy, I’d love to be your Ravello photographer — to capture your love story, even if the sky decides to dance with us.
