There are moments when a photo becomes more than just an image, and this engagement photoshoot with Karlyn and Ainee felt exactly like that from the very beginning.
I had carefully prepared a few references for our photography session, imagining soft movements and natural connection. But as soon as we met in the center of Sorrento, near its beautiful historic church and Chiostro di San Francesco, everything became effortless. Their energy was open, joyful, and so genuine that posing almost felt unnecessary.
We followed a gentle route through the town, allowing the photoshoot to unfold naturally. On our way toward Marina Grande, the atmosphere shifted — warm tones of old buildings, soft reflections of the sea, and that timeless cinematic feeling this place holds. It was the kind of setting every photographer quietly dreams of.
One of my favorite moments during this same-sex couple engagement photoshoot was focusing on their rings. There was something especially inspiring in having not one, but two beautiful engagement rings — each with its own character, its own quiet story. For me as a photographer, it felt like a kind of doubled beauty, a chance to explore details, reflections, and light in a more layered, artistic way. We captured them on the pier, with the sea stretching endlessly behind, and the whole moment felt calm, intimate, and deeply personal.
As we continued, the view opened up to the sea and Mount Vesuvius in the distance. We paused there, creating both shared moments and individual portraits, balancing closeness with quiet individuality. This romantic photoshoot in Sorrento felt incredibly natural — not staged, not forced, just honest and full of love.
What made this engagement photoshoot even more special was what came after. As soon as they received a few preview photos, they couldn’t wait to share them, revealing their engagement to loved ones for the very first time.
We ended the day slowly, over a simple lunch at a local pizzeria, still talking, still laughing, and not quite ready to say goodbye.
